How to Pull off "Punk"
Somewhere between "edgy" and "bohemian," lives the "Punk Princess" style that may seem impossible to achieve. But for BROOKLYN MOONEY, it's just another day to slay.
For her look, she paired a plaid skirt with a black long sleeve, sheer crop top, a black bralette, leather jacket, and ankle booties. Both her skirt and crop top were from Misbehavin' (similar linked above) and her booties were handmade by, Peter Nappi, based out of Nashville, Tennessee. (Fun fact: Brooklyn has close family ties with him and he designed the boots for the President of the CMA's.. #casual)
But how do you pull off punk when you never leave the comfort zone of your own style?
Here are a few tips and tricks that can make the pieces in your closet come together to help you "Pull Off Punk:"
1. Stray away from pastels, bright colors, and whites. Instead, choose darker colors and reds.
2. Choose simple, clean cut pieces rather than flowy, loose pieces.
3. Add chokers and funky accessories (like her sunnies) that make your look stand out but aren't necessarily part of the "latest trends."
"When I want to add some edge to my style, my immediate go-to's are a black leather jacket and leather boots. Something about sleek black makes everything have more of a 'punk' vibe," says Brooklyn. Honestly, if BROOKLYN MOONEY wore a plastic bag, I think she would still make it look Vogue.
Originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Brooklyn is a Freshman studying Public Policy at Ole Miss. She's a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Honors College, Trent Lott, and the Garden Club.
Something you may not know about Brooklyn is her hidden talent of being a classical pianist! (again, #casual) She grew up on a farm and with a sly smile, she mysteriously claimed she had a pet deer when she was a little girl... She's always keeping me guessing.
